We launched Model Railway Solutions website in 2010 with the intention of making life easier for our customers. Both myself and Steve felt that buying baseboards, (which is a very personal affair, no two layouts are exactly the same) could be made easier with a range of modular frames which could be ordered online and delivered via courier to your door.
Seven years on and we continue to go from strength to strength. Although we would like to carry enough stock to be able to ship orders immediately, we are unable to produce it quick enough. This has forced us into a lead time which averages five weeks. Whilst it's not ideal for some customers, I think it shows the popularity of our product and should be seen as a testament to quality, which gives peace of mind when buying online.
Throughout the years building the business, we have noticed some questions which have been asked from time to time. In some cases, we have neglected to inform customers of certain details via the website and in others, the information was simply missed. This lead to producing this page to try and fill in the missing gaps, again making it easier when looking to buy.
Read on to see if there is anything, that may answer questions you may have....
Frequently asked questions:
Q. What is the depth of the baseboard frame?
A. 100mm (4")
Q. What is the standard height of the leg sets?
A. The length of the leg is 1100mm, but 30mm plus the thickness of the top needs to be added to calculate the final height to the top of the baseboard.
Q. Can I have the height of my baseboard adjusted, and will it cost extra?
A. Yes, we chose to make the legs at what we considered being the maximum height, with the view of being able to reduce them to the customer's requirements. We don't charge for this service and a finished baseboard height can be requested in the comments box in step 4 of the checkout area.
Q. Do you sell tops for the baseboards? If so where can I find them?
A. Yes, tops are available. You can find these by going to the baseboard section and clicking on the required size. This will take you to a page of options where you can choose a top from four options, and also adjust the number of baseboards required.
Q. How can I find out how much the shipping will cost?
A. Being an automated website the shipping can only be calculated once the complete order has been entered, along with the shipping address. To see the shipping cost, simply create an account, which will consist of entering some basic details, e.g. name, address, telephone number, email address. We can guarantee that information received will only be used by ourselves and not passed on to a third party. (address for delivery, when sending an order via courier, telephone number for the courier and email address for us to confirm the delivery day). Once an account has been created, add the items to your basket and proceed to the checkout. Once there, you will be able to see the cost of the shipping based on the weight and dimensions of the order in step 4. At this stage you will not have committed to the purchase and the order can be changed or deleted.
Q. I don't live in the UK, do you ship worldwide? If so, how can find out the shipping cost?
A. We do ship our baseboards worldwide, but because no package is the same size or weight, we ask our international customers to contact us via phone or email for a quotation. Once we have the order and your location, we can search for the most competitive price, and get back to you with the shipping cost.
